Color expression is a very important aspect in the production of architectural models. Architectural color models are formed based on the basic theories of color preparation and possess strong decorative and visual simulation effects. In the color expression of architectural models, the colors of the architectural models are not merely a transformation of physical buildings and landscape colors, nor is it a simple mathematical relationship. While applying the relevant basic theories of ordinary color science, the relevant basic theories of ordinary color science should also be integrated into architectural modeling techniques. By reasonably utilizing the natural colors and secondary color formation techniques of materials, the application of colors in architectural models can be handled to create perfect visual effects.
First, the basic components of color
The primary colors, secondary colors and tertiary colors in ordinary color science are the main colors that constitute architectural colors.
Primary colors (red, yellow, blue) are also known as primary colors. They have high purity and can be used to mix other colors.
The intermediate color, also known as the secondary color, is the equal addition of two primary colors. Its purity is lower than that of the primary colors.
Tertiary colors, also known as trichromatic colors, are composed of primary colors and intermediate colors. Therefore, their purity is lower than that of primary colors and intermediate colors.
The three primary colors, the three secondary colors and the six tertiary colors are derived by adding equal and unequal quantities of the three primary colors together. This process leads to the formation of mixed colors, contrasting colors and complementary colors, thereby establishing the basic colors for the expression of architectural model colors.
As a model company, we not only need to master the aforementioned basic color principles, but also acquire knowledge about color attributes and other related color concepts. Based on the inherent laws of the performance of architectural model production, we should adjust the various colors used in the production of architectural models.
Second, the application of color in architectural design
Make use of the natural color of the materials.
Utilizing the natural colors of materials is one of the methods for expressing the color of architectural models. In the production of architectural models, the color expression of paperboard molded wooden models is composed of the color of the architectural model and the true color of the material. In terms of color expression, by taking advantage of the unique texture, texture and color of the production materials, adopting an abstract color expression method, integrating the principles of formal beauty into the production of the form, a special color sense and aesthetic feeling can be created. Especially for wooden ancient architectural models (as shown in the picture below), using the true color of the materials is more suitable.
When constructing ancient wood models, wood boards are usually used as the main material, and they are made in a homogeneous and identical form. The original color of the materials can not only express the prototype of the building materials, but also reflect the texture and color of the wood, achieving a high degree of unity between form and content.
In the process of architectural modeling, there are still many areas where the true colors of materials can be utilized, such as glass or frosted glass, surface textures, metal components, etc. During the production of these parts, manual color processing simply cannot convey the actual color and effect of the materials themselves. Therefore, in the expression of colors in this part, the true colors of the materials must be fully utilized.
